Description
As a member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative or business support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care. Functions according to the job description for Business Clerks on the Cardiology Inpatient Unit.
2. Graduate of community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent office experience
3. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 required or demonstrated equivalent knowledge acquired in a recent Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
4. Order transcription; transcribing of physician orders for cardiology patients and post-operative vascular patients.
5. Keyboarding 30 wpm
6. Knowledge and skill in using computer based programs
7. Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents
8. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written) and telephone etiquette, interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills
9. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
10. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
11. Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
12. Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending
