Reporting directly to Manager, the  Animal Health Technician - ARC, oversees all aspects of technical services and operations of animal research facilities.  Support the Manager with daily operations of HHSC Animal Facility. The position is responsible for the effective coordination, maintenance of all equipment. The incumbent will support the ARC manager with all applicable institutional Policies & Guidelines, Provincial and Federal legislation and guidelines. This position will support the manager ensuring the care and management of animals, ensuring animal health and welfare are a priority while supporting animal-based research. The incumbent will assist the ARC manager in maintaining effective communication with users of the facilities.


Qualifications

1. ARLAT Certification and/or Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
2. Minimum one year previous experience working with laboratory animals
3. Previous experience working with wash area equipment, washer, autoclaves
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently
5. Demonstrated excellent communication and problem-solving skills
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible research environment
