Job Description

The Manager Environmental Services will be responsible for providing ethical leadership in the administration and management of housekeeping, transportation, waste and linen services at the Georgetown and Milton Hospitals.

The role also oversees the delivery of Housekeeping, Linen, Laundry and Waste Management services in keeping with safe work practices and infection prevention and control standards.

As a core member of the Environmental Services management team, you will provide leadership in developing, maintaining and monitoring of corporate environmental services standards. Ensures that all standards are in keeping with best practice guidelines (PIDAC), appropriate legislation (TDG, Waste Management Regs) and budget parameters.

Manages and provides direction to housekeeping and transportation supervisors, in support of daily operations. You will work with the team in keeping with the specific policies, standards and overall values and continuous quality improvement goals of the department and Halton Healthcare.

In collaboration with the Manager of Environmental Services, OTMH and Infection Control, is responsible for developing, maintaining and monitoring corporate housekeeping infection prevention and control standards.

Is responsible for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of various quality improvement initiatives related to environmental and portering services and customer satisfaction at the Georgetown and Milton Hospitals.

Manage Georgetown and Milton Hospitals financial resources in keeping with the strategic priorities and goals of the department and hospital.

Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

Professional Healthcare Housekeeper's Certificate (PHH) preferred

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification preferred

Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or another related field

Knowledge and skills required

  • Understanding of PIDAC, Workplace Safety and occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate, inspire and facilitate teamwork.
  • Safety Training is an asset
  • Experience managing a large workforce in a unionized environment

Previous Relevant Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years related management experience (i.e., working within a support services department of a large hospital)
  • Proven planning, organizational, leadership and communication skills.
  • Experienced in working in partnership with vendors, distributors, staff and management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining capital and operating budgets
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Additional Information

Status: Full Time

Hours: Monday to Friday - 7.5 hour day shifts; 0800 - 1600 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
