Job Summary

The hours of work for this position are generally from 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Under the supervision of the Senior Managers, Human Resources Services, the Human Resources Services Assistant is responsible for both the daily operations of the computerized system for staff replacement and the benefit administration at the Board.

Qualifications / Experience

• Post-Secondary Degree in Human Resources, related field or deemed equivalency

• Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a Human Resources Services Department, specifically in the areas of

benefit administration and / or HRIS systems.

• Work experience with a school board is considered an asset

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task

• Strong professionalism, discretion, adherence to confidentiality and attention to detail

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Human Resources Information Systems

• Experience in SmartFind Express (staff replacement system) is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Services Assistant is responsible for the daily operations of the computerized system for staff replacement. This includes monitoring all employee absences and following up on leaves. It also includes interaction with Principals, Vice Principals, Managers, and staff with handling inquiries, troubleshooting, and problem solving to ensure the highest possible fill rate daily.

This position is also responsible to assist in the benefit administration of employee benefits for all staff, which includes communication with third party administrators, maintaining benefit records, and tracking long term disability for all eligible staff. Administers the OMERS pension plan for all non-teaching staff, including enrolment and enrolment offers, all leave periods, and retirements/resignations/deaths. This position also provides assistance with other departmental duties as assigned.
