At GUAY, you’ll work at the heart of our operations, collaborating with a team of engineers and drafters on constantly evolving projects for a recognized and well-established leader in the industry.

More specifically, you will:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of 4 to 7 drafters: assign requests, explain requirements, follow up, and ensure that plans meet applicable standards and allow lifting operations to be carried out safely;
  • Manage lifting requests from start to finish: gather information from sales representatives and their clients, follow up, incorporate feedback, and manage revisions through to project execution;
  • Analyze work environments to identify constraints, interferences, power lines, access points, and other factors that may affect crane positioning and operation;
  • Design and analyze technical solutions tailored to complex lifting projects, particularly in the hydroelectric and industrial sectors and, as required, in refineries;
  • Manage priorities and schedules to ensure requests are completed within required timelines and, whenever possible, deliver ahead of schedule;
  • Collaborate with sales representatives, clients, and various GUAY departments, including procurement, maintenance, and fabrication, to resolve technical issues;
  • Participate in technical meetings with sales representatives and clients and travel to project sites when warranted by the complexity of the project;
  • Following the onboarding and training period, gradually take responsibility for supervising lifting operations in the field, including planning and monitoring activities;
  • Continuously improve practices, learn from experience, stay current with industry developments, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Desired profile:

  • Autonomy, initiative, professional judgment, and the ability to manage a project from start to finish, providing a turnkey solution;
  • Functional English skills to understand technical documentation and communicate with certain clients and suppliers;
  • Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously, establish priorities, and meet tight deadlines;
  • Autonomy, initiative, professional judgment, and the ability to manage a project from start to finish;
  • Strong coordination and communication skills when working with technical and operational stakeholders;
  • Team spirit, respect for colleagues, open-mindedness, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety rules and professional practices.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Active membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) and a professional engineer designation (required);
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering; direct experience in lifting operations, equipment, electrical installations, or the industrial sector is considered a strong asset.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary that reflects your skills and experience;
  • A competitive retirement savings plan: you contribute 5%, and GUAY contributes 5%;
  • Comprehensive group insurance coverage, with 65% paid by GUAY;
  • Wellness support, including an Employee Assistance Program, telemedicine services, stress management, and mental health resources;
  • 5 sick days per year;
  • 11 statutory holiday and paid time off during the construction industry winter holiday period, in addition to your annual vacation;
  • Hybrid work policy;
  • Company-provided cell phone;
  • $500 allowance for an ergonomic home office setup;
  • Welcome gift from the GUAY Boutique;
  • Free coffee every day (and good coffee, too!);
  • Free parking at our facilities;
  • And most importantly: a role where you can make a real impact every day as part of a close-knit team!
