Your mission

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager and in collaboration with the operational and maintenance teams, the Field Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, and controls the daily activities of Boréal Cranes Inc. He or she is responsible for staff assignments, operations management, and the administrative tasks necessary to ensure the smooth running of operations.

He or she ensures that work is carried out in the field across all areas of activity (rental and operation of cranes and machinery, land transportation) and acts as the direct foreman of the staff on site. He or she ensures the proper use of equipment and facilities in accordance with contract requirements and ensures compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Finally, the Field Supervisor assists customers to maintain and develop quality relationships, delivering service that upholds the company’s reputation.

Main responsibilities

Operational responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors daily operations: methods, procedures, risks, and preventive measures.
  • Manages crane allocation, equipment availability, and staff assignments according to the nature/duration of the work.
  • Coordinates the presence of subcontractors and collaboration with customers on site.
  • Responds to service calls and customer requests (days, evenings, and weekends).
  • Ensures communication and follow-up with teams and redirects to the relevant departments as needed.
  • Oversees the condition and maintenance of equipment in collaboration with the maintenance team.
  • Conducts customer visits: project follow-up, service quality control, maintenance of professional business relationships.
  • Supervises certain work during major shutdowns/special projects and collaborates with the field engineer.
  • Monitors equipment certification and regulatory inspections.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned, in line with their skills and expertise.

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with applicable QHSE laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Organizes regular OHS meetings for each project and site.
  • Conducts site, garage, and warehouse visits: ensures compliance with instructions and documentation, and implements timely corrective actions.
  • Promotes ongoing communication with staff and customers to support OHS and environmental protection.

Personnel management responsibilities

  • Supervises the team and maintains a professional relationship to ensure efficiency and the achievement of objectives.
  • Works with the Branch Manager to identify training and development needs.
  • Ensures compliance with collective agreements/employment contracts and manages disciplinary measures.

Other responsibilities

  • Supports the Branch Manager in preparing bids and calculations.
  • Performs various operational analyses and proposes effective solutions to problems.
  • Produces or approves management system documents (invoicing, payroll, purchasing, etc.) and maintains files in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Prepares and tracks internal documentation: slips, work orders, contracts, permits, attendance sheets, weekly invoicing, etc.
  • Coordinates with the workshop to plan and execute fleet inspection programs.
  • Updates the location, assignment, and availability of equipment in the MCS system.
  • Participates in various committees (operations, OHS, ISO, or others).

Working conditions

  • Permanent position.
  • A 42.5-hour workweek, divided between 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Requested skills

Required skills

  • College diploma in heavy equipment operation or mechanics, transportation logistics, or any other field of study relevant to the position.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a management position related to crane operations or in the industrial field.
  • Experience in supervising staff and strong team spirit.
  • Ability to manage multi-site projects.
  • Knowledge of the local mining industry (an asset).
  • Bilingual (English and French) with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Sense of responsibility and commitment.
  • Valid driver's license and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Work location: based in Labrador City and Fermont, with possible travel to various job sites.
