Boréal Grues Inc., a subsidiary of Groupe Desgagnés and a major player in the Newfoundland and Labrador region, is looking for a Branch Operations Manager to oversee and supervise its activities in Labrador City.

Your Daily Challenges

  • Plan and coordinate all operations: manage the fleet of cranes and heavy equipment, organize teams, and closely monitor on-site projects.

  • Maintain strong client and partner relationships, meeting the specific needs of each project to ensure flawless service.

  • Oversee safety, quality, and maintenance standards, while actively promoting a safe work environment.

  • Manage administrative and logistical aspects in close collaboration with Tessier and Groupe Desgagnés to achieve business objectives.

What We Are Looking For

You hold a degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, or equivalent) and have significant experience in operations management or in the heavy industry sector. Highly organized and autonomous, you are known for your listening skills and communication abilities, in both French and English.

Main Responsibilities of the Branch Operations Manager

  • Operations planning and supervision: Organize, direct, and coordinate all lifting, transport, and fleet maintenance activities according to the company’s operational goals.

  • Team management on-site: Supervise and guide work crews, assign tasks, and ensure efficiency and safety.

  • Ensure safety and compliance: Implement safety and quality standards on job sites, conduct risk assessments, and ensure preventive measures are followed.

  • Fleet management: Oversee maintenance, daily inspections, and availability of lifting equipment, ensuring functionality and compliance with operational requirements.

  • Coordination with subcontractors and partners: Manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and partners to ensure smooth operations.

  • Client relationship development: Act as the point of contact for clients, understand their needs, provide responsive service, and ensure satisfaction to maintain Boréal’s reputation as an industry leader.

  • Administrative and logistical follow-up: Handle administrative aspects of operations (work orders, reports, inventory) and coordinate effectively with administrative and financial departments.

  • Compliance with company policies and HSE standards: Apply health, safety, and environmental policies rigorously, and provide staff training in these procedures.

  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize operational processes and contribute to ongoing performance improvements.

  • Performance tracking and team development: Participate in evaluating and training teams, support skill development, and foster a culture of collaboration and safety.

Requested skills

Skills required

  • University degree or college diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, construction engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a field related to heavy industry or civil construction, as well as in managing or supervising work teams
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and French, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), both for supervision and teamwork, as well as for customer relations
  • Knowledge and mastery of Microsoft Office suite software
  • Ability to work under pressure in a context of major constraints (time, material and human resources, changing climatic conditions, etc.).
