Your Role and Impact
The Vice President - Project Management is responsible for all project management, project control, and estimation activities at GCM. He/She is responsible for the organization's project management processes. He/She provides close supervision of operations, while actively contributing to the strategic vision and development of the organization.
This role requires a leader who:
- Establishes a clear vision for the project management group, consistent with corporate objectives, company values, and project execution processes.
- Knows how to manage a team of senior managers to achieve corporate objectives.
- Has demonstrated the ability to improve project management processes.
- Mobilizes teams and ensures that execution is aligned with strategic objectives.
- Is credible as a project manager, able to get directly involved in projects when necessary.
- Works closely with the VP of Engineering in a “co-leadership” mode to ensure harmonized, efficient, and consistent project execution.
Main Responsibilities:
Leadership and strategy:
- Be responsible for project management processes and tools.
- Work closely with the VP of Engineering and other members of the leadership team to ensure high‑performance project execution (delivery), including processes and team alignment.
- Actively contribute to the development and deployment of the strategic plan.
- Establish the objectives, priorities, and action plans of the Project Management team in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Implement, improve, and ensure adherence to project management standards, processes, and tools.
- Oversee overall project performance: budgets, schedules, quality, risks, and profitability.
- Ensure the availability, optimization, and development of resources in project management, estimating, and project controls.
- Act as the primary point of resolution when project management practices are not followed.
- Work closely with the VP of Engineering to ensure integrated, smooth, and coherent delivery aligned with the corporate vision, mission, objectives, and values.
- Align leadership practices, processes, and expectations within the Project Management team.
- Establish enhanced collaboration mechanisms to support multidisciplinary projects.
- Guide, support, and develop the skills of Directors in Project Management, Project Controls, and Estimating.
- Oversee hiring, team growth, and workforce planning in line with business needs and objectives.
- Foster a positive, engaging work environment aligned with corporate values.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, health & safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Act as a key contributor in managing organizational change.
- Guarantee the accuracy of data, monitoring reports, and critical operational information.
- Oversee the commercial aspects of large‑scale projects ($500M and above).
- Directly supervise Major Project Directors.
Candidate Profile:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent (Master’s degree is an asset).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in multidisciplinary project management.
- Experience in consulting engineering, an asset.
- Project management experience in maintenance projects and major capital investment projects.
- Field/plant experience, an asset.
- PMP certification, an asset.
- Excellent understanding of project management processes and engineering project challenges.
- Strategic vision combined with a strong ability to deliver practical, tangible results.
- Inspiring leadership and a collaborative approach.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues, prioritize effectively, and respond quickly.
- Strong communication, presentation, and client‑facing skills.
- Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written.
- Good business sense and the ability to work effectively in a partnership‑based model with clients.
