POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Garden Valley School Division invites applications for the full-time permanent position (1.0 FTE) of School Psychologist effective September 2, 2025.

Responsibilities & Requirements for this position will include:

  • Assessment and evaluation of students with intellectual, social, and emotional needs
  • Reporting to professional staff and parents on assessments
  • Providing follow-up support on programming recommendations
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the Clinical Services Team as well as the school team involved with students displaying intellectual, social, and emotional needs.
  • Providing threat assessments if the need arises
  • Being a part of the Crisis Response Team if the need arises
  • Providing staff development on appropriate topics related to this field.
  • Liaise with outside agencies to provide services to students and families as appropriate.


REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in School Psychology with appropriate supervised clinical experience
  • Valid Manitoba School Psychologist Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • Successful completion of formal training in psycho-educational assessments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective organizational and computer skills, and the ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong clinical skills and a broad knowledge base in child and adolescent development, cognitive processes, mental health, school and community systems, learning, and behaviour disorders
  • Experience working with students who have a broad range of exceptional needs.
  • Training in Threat Assessment/Trauma Informed Care would be an asset

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
