The Senior Consultant, UI UX provides senior consulting in the domain of UI UX to an assigned portfolio in the areas of designing user-friendly interfaces that enable users to understand, collaborate and adopt complex technical products. The role reports into Director Consulting and Analytics, System Optimization. System Optimization is the main Decision Support department at Fraser Health that embeds strategic consulting and analytical / planning support to deliver information and insights for operational and clinical areas, including frontline leadership, the Senior Executive Team, and other decision makers within and beyond Fraser Health.

 

Job duties:

  • Provides senior UI UX consulting services to all disciplines and stakeholders within an assigned portfolio by leading engagements and collaborations with clients
  • Product development life cycle alignment with organization’s agile practices all through the process of developing a design and seeing it through to its implementation, use and post implementation.
  • Provides leadership to lead small to medium scale projects by organizing and hands on in design sessions, mock ups, low and high fidelity mock ups 
  • Functional design that allows for user story telling:  which is enabling the business purpose and business actions to be taken to manifest in to the product design
  • Design wireframe, prototypes, user research findings, infographics, dashboards, reporting templates, communication templates, user guides and application interfaces as few examples of deliverables.
  • Analytical and performance reporting measurement experience 3+ years while keeping abreast with existing and new technologies in the field of UI UX.
  • Provides internal UI UX consulting service to the system optimization team as a resource and support to enable knowledge translation and team growth
  • Ensure initiative/project closure by providing post-implementation evaluation; measuring key outcomes, assessing project related staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and documenting lessons learned.
  • Competent in data visualization, graphic design, data storytelling and advanced media illustration

As the successful candidate you have:

  • Certifications in UI UX and/or training in UI UX is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering.
  • Seven (7) years of related experience in a large complex organization including at least three (3) years experience as a project manager.
  • Knowledge of visual hierarchy, layout design, typography, visual narrative and interactive design is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered 

This is a Full Time position based at our Central City offices in Surrey, BC, with access to rapid transit, shopping, restaurants, on-site gym and other amenities.

Detailed Overview

The Senior Consultant, Knowledge Management & Business Systems provides senior consulting to Fraser Health executive within an assigned portfolio in the areas of knowledge management, decision support and in corporate business areas which may include the development and implementation of application architecture.  Leads enterprise-wide information systems projects; manages timelines and resources; provides leadership to team members and may facilitate change management strategies as part of the project.  Coordinates the procurement and management of external services.  Manages assigned staff. 


Responsibilities

  1. Provides senior consulting services to all disciplines and stakeholders within an assigned portfolio by keeping abreast of the initiatives and issues within the business areas assigned and leading the business area through developing business cases, process reengineering initiatives, etc.  Formulates project plans with the business areas and/or provides input into operational or strategic plans.
  2. Ensures that projects and iniatiaves are aligned with the Fraser Health Information Management Strategic Plan.
  3. Provides project leadership to a variety of large, complex projects including a number of diverse disciplines and/or affecting multiple stakeholders; develops and manages project timelines; facilitates change management strategies; defines tasks; identifies, sources and manages resources such as contractors, staff or dollars; identifies and mitigates project related risks; provides guidance to team members.
  4. Ensures project closure by providing post-implementation evaluation; measuring key outcomes, assessing project related staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, obtaining project sign off, and documenting lessons learned.
  5. Provides leadership to staff assigned to lead small to medium scale projects by providing guidance on project management duties, budget management, or technical issues; receives updates from assigned team leaders on project status.
  6. Provides input into project budget development and, once approved, manages the budget dollars by approving required contractors, purchasing software and hardware.Monitors and reports on budget variances if necessary and discusses with project sponsor as required.
  7. Liaises and communicates with project sponsors and stakeholders by monitoring and reporting on all phases of projects to ensure success and to increase overall quality of products implemented.  Provides updates on project status and all aspects of the project as required.
  8. Manages assigned projects through the project management lifecycle using standard documentation methodologies such as project charters.
  9. Manages assigned staff by selecting, supervising, and evaluating staff; assigns, evaluates and monitors work assignments; disciplines staff as necessary and initiates terminations; assesses and recommends staffing requirements; orients staff; authorize leaves of absences and approves overtime as necessary.
  10. Champions project management methologies and best practices through mentoring, coaching, and communicating with team members, business units and staff.
  11. Researches and analyzes market, technology, and industry trends and standards related to technologies for the purposes of collaboration in problem solving merging business needs.  Provides recommendations on the use and evolution of applications and tools.
  12. Prepares, manages and evaluates the procurement of external services by participating and/or managing the RFI, RFQ, and or RFP process including creating and evaluating the RFP and funds for large enterprise-wide systems initiatives.  Liaises with outside vendors, reviews bids and/or negotiates equipment and/or service contracts, and makes recommendations where necessary to the Manager.  Monitors the level of support to ensure requirements and expectations of the contract(s) are met.
  13. Provides expert advice and consultation by performing or managing the research, analysis, and recommendations for proposed technology changes.  Provides input into application development and into the use of new technology for inclusion in the technology architecture.  Provides consultation and advice to senior management on application technology alternatives and solutions.
  14. Develops annual goals and objectives for the area of responsibility, in collaboration with the Manager, ensuring consistency with department plans and authority objectives and strategies.
  15. Participates in assigned Fraser Health, Provincial, and Federal committees; chairs and/or leads discussion as required.
  16. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related study or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Seven (7) years of related experience in a large complex organization including at least three (3) years experience as a project manager.
