The Project Leader, Indigenous Health is responsible for leading, directing and coordinating the development and implementation of projects and new programs arising out of the operational needs of the Aboriginal Health program. This includes providing leadership and collaborating with clinical and operational leaders to support best practices models for Aboriginal Health programs and services.
Responsibilities
- Leads selected projects and new program development through to implementation and evaluation, as prioritized by the Aboriginal Health Program Leadership Team. Provides consultative services to Aboriginal Health Directors, Managers and Clinical Leaders and manages initiatives, ensuring alignment with Fraser Health's strategic vision for Indigenous health and cultural safety.
- Acts as business architect for clinical/operational processes development and implementation by ensuring initiative designs and structures are devised and integrated to achieve the desired outcomes and benefits in an optimal manner.
- Identifies, establishes and manages the appropriate team structure and membership required for the initiative including sponsorship, champion, steering committees and delivery/implementation teams, utilizing Fraser Health and external resources.
- Develops project charters and plans appropriate to the initiative and incorporates change management approaches to ensure success in complex multi-stakeholder, multi-disciplinary settings. Develops and implements a consistent and streamlined process for policy development.
- Collaborates with program staff and senior leadership to develop project work plans for project activities including development of clinical protocols between departments and development and implementation of staff education strategies.
- Reviews existing policies and procedures in other Fraser Health programs and relevant external organizations and researches best practices, trends and innovations that may influence practices and models and provides evidence informed recommendations.
- Develops project plans, communication strategies and engagement opportunities in collaboration with appropriate Clinical and Operations Leaders.
- Oversees day-to-day management of projects and teams, monitors and provides progress reports to Aboriginal Health Program Leadership Team, including identification, management and mitigation/resolution of risks and issues. Monitors project progress and takes corrective action to ensure that project implementation strategies and services continue to operate efficiently and effectively; ensures project reporting requirements are met.
- Liaises with key support areas and internal/external stakeholders to ensure critical initiative outcomes are achieved and negotiates/facilitates resolution of any impediments to progress and success.
- Champions change and project management methodologies; manages initiatives tracking and change/project education websites; assists in the development and presentation of initiatives management coaching, mentoring and instruction strategies and materials.
- Provides education about the project and the initiative to individuals, groups, organizations and communities as it pertains to successfully completing project deliverables.
- Partners with other departments and external partners including the First Nations Health Authority and M�tis Nation British Columbia in the development, maintenance, and promotion of health initiatives supporting Indigenous individuals, families and communities in the Fraser Region.
- Participates in the evaluation of the tool set used by project teams, and makes recommendations regarding the implementation of new or improved tools.
- Assists in the re-engineering process required for transition from existing service models to new models.
- Provides pre and post implementation support as required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Indigenous studies, health science, or related discipline. Minimum seven (7) years' recent, related experience including healthcare service delivery, planning or project management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business related purposes.
