Job Summary

The Lead, Health Informatics provides leadership in advancing evidence-informed practice and decision-making across Fraser Health by integrating research, knowledge translation, and informatics principles. The Lead partners with clinical, corporate, and academic stakeholders to support the mobilization, dissemination, and application of evidence into practice, and provides expert guidance in knowledge management and decision support. The Lead oversees and manages research- and knowledge-translation–related initiatives and supports the development of strategies and tools that enhance the use of evidence in practice. The Lead also provides mentorship and consultation to teams across Fraser Health and fosters collaborative research and academic partnerships.  

Revised Duties & Responsibilities  

Knowledge Translation, Evidence Integration & Advisory Support 

• Provides guidance and expertise to leadership, staff, and physicians by supporting the integration of research evidence into clinical and corporate practice, including conducting rapid reviews, feasibility studies, and implementation science projects. 

• Develops and implements strategies for the dissemination, mobilization, and uptake of research findings, and provides consultation, education, and support for evidence-informed practice and decision-making. 

• Responds to internal requests for evidence synthesis, supervises literature reviews and data integration activities, and identifies opportunities to enhance business and clinical efficiency through evidence use. 

• Monitors provincial and national research priorities and communicates opportunities to Fraser Health stakeholders to support collaborative research and KT initiatives. 

Project Leadership, Research Support & System Analysis 

• Leads assigned research, and knowledge translation projects by applying project management methodologies, managing timelines and resources, monitoring expenditures, and facilitating change management strategies. 

• Provides strategic guidance in project design phases, including defining tasks, identifying resource needs, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and evidence-informed approaches. 

• Supports the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to the implementation of research evidence into practice, and contributes to the design of application architecture that enables effective knowledge management and decision support. 

• Participates in enterprise-wide, cross-disciplinary initiatives, including confidential projects related to system selection, procurement, and implementation. 

Capacity Building, Mentorship & Education 

• Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to staff and teams engaged in knowledge translation, research, and evidence-informed practice activities. 

• Prepares and delivers education, training, and capacity-building initiatives to enhance organizational capability in knowledge translation, research methods, and evidence use. 

• Supports navigation of data access, documentation, and processes required for research proposals, ethics reviews, and evaluation activities.

Application Support, Governance & Organizational Engagement 

• Coordinates and provides third-level application support for critical systems related to knowledge management and decision support, ensuring service levels meet business expectations. 

• Serves on Fraser Health committees, task groups, and corporate projects to advance evidence-informed practice, research integration, and informatics-enabled improvements. 

• Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies, research methodologies, and KT practices to support innovation and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Science or Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. 

• Five (5) years of recent experience with business and systems analysis including experience as a project manager.  

• Experience with health and corporate information systems. 

• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

The Lead, Health Informatics is responsible for leading and managing assigned projects, providing leadership to team members and applying appropriate change management strategies as part of a project.  Provides advice, guidance, and direction to an assigned portfolio in the areas of knowledge management, and decision support; in clinical and corporate business areas which includes the development and implementation of application architecture. Provides expertise on enterprise-wide projects, serves as back up to the Portfolio Manager in the area of team leadership.
ResponsibilitiesQualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Science or Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Five (5) years of recent experience with business and systems analysis including experience as a project manager. Experience with health and corporate information systems.
