The Burnaby Hospital redevelopment project is a multi-phase project that will transform the hospital into a modernized medical and surgical health care campus. Phase one is slated to open in spring 2025 and phase two in 2030.

Burnaby Hospital plays an essential role to those living in the community by delivering a variety health care services. In accordance with the Mission and Values of Fraser Health, the Health Care Assistant works in the Emergency Department under the direction of a nurse, in cooperation with the interprofessional care team, and following established care plans and person-centered care. As directed by the nurse, performs procedures such as measuring temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and oxygen saturation; obtains patient weights as required. Obtains specimens such as urine and stool and performs tests such as urine dipstick and urine pregnancy tests. Provides personal care to patients such as assisting with toileting, bathing, skin and hair care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, changing bed linen, patient positioning and mobilization. Documents on patient charts in accordance with established procedures, observes and reports patient progress, assists with meals, transports patients, and performs related general duties.

Education, Training & Experience

Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current Food Safe Level One, as required.
