Flexxco, a general contractor specializing in high-end residential renovations in Montreal, is seeking a versatile employee to fill a dual role as carpenter-joiner (75%) and site foreperson (25%). This hybrid position is ideal for a rigorous, autonomous, and well-organized candidate capable of delivering top-quality workmanship while overseeing part of the site coordination.

Duties – Carpenter-Joiner (75%)

  • Carry out a variety of tasks on residential renovation projects: framing, stairs, doors and windows, guardrails, insulation, vapor barriers, drywall, waterproofing membranes, wall and floor coverings, light concrete work, cabinet installation, trim, accessories, and custom design elements.

  • Perform high-end finish work according to skill level, meeting the quality expectations of our premium projects. This component may be subcontracted, but versatile and experienced candidates will be prioritized.

  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications to execute work with precision.

  • Work quickly but safely, with attention to detail and craftsmanship, while adhering to the Quebec Building Code, internal standards, and the specific requirements of each project.

  • Collaborate respectfully with other team members and specialized subcontractors to ensure smooth and coordinated execution on site.

Duties – Site Foreperson (25%)

  • Oversee daily operations on the job site in coordination with the project manager, ensuring work complies with plans, schedules, and quality standards.

  • Build the worker schedule, assign daily tasks, support team members, uphold quality standards, and adjust/teach methods as needed. Provide the office with feedback on crew assignments and hiring based on observed skills.

  • Coordinate subcontractor activities (schedule prepared in collaboration with the office), check the quality and compliance of their work, and request corrections when necessary.

  • Manage on-site logistics: organization, pickup/reception, and safe storage of tools, equipment, and materials. Check purchase orders upon delivery.

  • Track change orders: promptly report any unforeseen conditions or modifications to the office, document required adjustments clearly, and help assess impacts on schedule and budget.

  • Take initiative by proposing practical solutions to the project manager when technical issues or conflicts arise on site.

  • Document job progress across all sites (photos and videos). Assist in documentation management (scan receipts, upload PO confirmations, photos, and other files to the digital project folders by client).

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and code-compliant job site in accordance with CNESST and municipal regulations.

  • Ensure clear and proactive communication with the office to align execution with project management.

This position is ideal for an experienced candidate who is passionate about high-end renovations and eager to grow in a dynamic, human-focused environment that values quality and client satisfaction.

Our team is warm and accommodating, with flexible work arrangements and family-friendly policies. This role offers growth potential within a performance-oriented company.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Journeyperson Carpenter or equivalent experience in carpentry and residential renovation.

  • Proven experience in full-scope renovation projects, from demolition to finish, with a strong portfolio in carpentry, framing, and interior systems.

  • Prior experience as a site foreperson or in a leadership role on construction sites is a strong asset.

  • Solid knowledge of Quebec building codes, safety standards, and provincial regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with the office (estimating, project management, admin), suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the highest standards.

  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills; adaptable to evolving site conditions.
