Flexxco, a general contractor specializing in high-end residential renovations in Montreal, is seeking a versatile employee to fill a dual role as carpenter-joiner (75%) and site foreperson (25%). This hybrid position is ideal for a rigorous, autonomous, and well-organized candidate capable of delivering top-quality workmanship while overseeing part of the site coordination.
Duties – Carpenter-Joiner (75%)

Carry out a variety of tasks on residential renovation projects: framing, stairs, doors and windows, guardrails, insulation, vapor barriers, drywall, waterproofing membranes, wall and floor coverings, light concrete work, cabinet installation, trim, accessories, and custom design elements.

Perform high-end finish work according to skill level, meeting the quality expectations of our premium projects. This component may be subcontracted, but versatile and experienced candidates will be prioritized.

Read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical specifications to execute work with precision.

Work quickly but safely, with attention to detail and craftsmanship, while adhering to the Quebec Building Code, internal standards, and the specific requirements of each project.

Collaborate respectfully with other team members and specialized subcontractors to ensure smooth and coordinated execution on site.
Duties – Site Foreperson (25%)

Oversee daily operations on the job site in coordination with the project manager, ensuring work complies with plans, schedules, and quality standards.

Build the worker schedule, assign daily tasks, support team members, uphold quality standards, and adjust/teach methods as needed. Provide the office with feedback on crew assignments and hiring based on observed skills.

Coordinate subcontractor activities (schedule prepared in collaboration with the office), check the quality and compliance of their work, and request corrections when necessary.

Manage on-site logistics: organization, pickup/reception, and safe storage of tools, equipment, and materials. Check purchase orders upon delivery.

Track change orders: promptly report any unforeseen conditions or modifications to the office, document required adjustments clearly, and help assess impacts on schedule and budget.

Take initiative by proposing practical solutions to the project manager when technical issues or conflicts arise on site.

Document job progress across all sites (photos and videos). Assist in documentation management (scan receipts, upload PO confirmations, photos, and other files to the digital project folders by client).

Maintain a clean, safe, and code-compliant job site in accordance with CNESST and municipal regulations.

Ensure clear and proactive communication with the office to align execution with project management.

Qualifications

Certification as a Journeyperson Carpenter or equivalent experience in carpentry and residential renovation.

Proven experience in full-scope renovation projects, from demolition to finish, with a strong portfolio in carpentry, framing, and interior systems.

Prior experience as a site foreperson or in a leadership role on construction sites is a strong asset.

Solid knowledge of Quebec building codes, safety standards, and provincial regulations.

Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, and specifications.

Strong communication skills to coordinate with the office (estimating, project management, admin), suppliers, and subcontractors.

Ability to lead and motivate a team to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Excellent technical and problem-solving skills; adaptable to evolving site conditions.

Fluency in French and English (at least one at native level).

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Valid driver's license required.
