I am currently looking for a Director of Operations for a well-established, family-owned Quebec-based food distribution company, recognized for its service reliability, product quality and people-first culture.

Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you will act as their right-hand operational partner, fully accountable for warehouse and logistics performance.

The role is Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with 24/7 operational accountability (decision-making, continuity and emergency handling).
You will join a strong leadership group in a fast-moving environment focused on performance, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management
* Lead and develop a management structure including:
o 2 Transportation Supervisors (day & night)
o 2 Warehouse Supervisors
o Around 60 employees total
* Drive engagement, accountability, retention and team development.
* Ensure alignment between management and floor operations.

Operational Oversight
* Oversee end-to-end operations: receiving, storage, picking, shipping, transportation and returns.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and customer service expectations.
* Provide rapid, effective decisions during operational disruptions or emergencies.

Performance & Continuous Improvement
* Define, monitor and improve key KPIs (productivity, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, logistics cost, H&S).
* Identify optimization opportunities across processes, space, labor planning, transportation and systems.
* Lead modernization and continuous improvement projects.
Cross-Functional & Strategic Partnership
* Collaborate closely with executive leadership on operational strategy.
* Align business objectives with real-world operational capacity.
* Act as a key partner to Sales, Customer Service, Finance and HR.

* 10+ years of proven experience in food/agri-food distribution, including combined warehouse + transportation management.
* Strong background in leading high-volume or multi-site operations.
* Hands-on, floor-oriented leadership with the ability to drive change and performance.
* Data-driven mindset, comfortable with WMS/ERP tools and KPI management.
* Fluent bilingual French/English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
