We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer / Logistician to oversee procurement and logistics operations within our alloy manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement & Logistics, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, components, and services, while also coordinating inbound and outbound logistics flows.

This position requires a strong grasp of global supply chain dynamics, with particular attention to evolving trade regulations and tariff structures.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement:
Source, negotiate, and procure raw materials (alloying elements, chemicals), equipment, and services-including MRO/MRP-from both local and international suppliers.

Execute purchasing decisions in line with company policies and based on properly authorized purchase requisitions.

Assess supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service, initiating corrective actions when needed.

Forecast demand and track stock usage to maintain optimal inventory levels.

Issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery to meet production requirements.

Manage supplier contracts, pricing, and delivery terms.

Proactively seek and implement cost-saving initiatives.

Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.

Logistics & Coordination:
Plan and coordinate transportation of raw materials and finished products.

Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics providers.

Stay informed of, and ensure compliance with, international trade regulations and tariffs.

Track shipments, address delivery issues, and optimize transportation costs.

Support warehousing operations, including material handling and storage efficiency.

Documentation & Systems:
Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory levels, and logistics data.

Use ERP systems for procurement and logistics tracking.

Collaborate with suppliers and Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies.

Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in procurement and logistics, preferably within a manufacturing or metals industry.

Strong knowledge of global trade policies, tariffs, incoterms, and customs procedures

Proven negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Supply chain or procurement certification (an asset).

Experience working in tariff-sensitive industries or with trade compliance/legal teams.
