Description
Hello, I’m Simon Mathé, Recruitment Consultant at FED ManuTech, specializing in engineering and manufacturing positions.
I am currently recruiting an Industrial Project Engineer for a food manufacturing company located in Laval. You will lead process-improvement, automation and equipment-integration projects, from initial needs analysis through commissioning.
This position is intended for an experienced, resourceful and hands-on engineer who can structure and deliver several projects simultaneously with a high level of autonomy. Three-dimensional design represents only a limited portion of the work. Your value will primarily come from defining the right technical solutions, writing precise specifications and effectively coordinating suppliers and field activities.
Your Responsibilities:
-Manage industrial projects from needs analysis through commissioning
-Assess existing installations and identify technical or operational issues
-Define solutions involving process improvements, automation and equipment integration
-Complete preliminary studies, evaluate feasibility and prepare estimates
-Write mechanical, process and automation specifications
-Consult, select and coordinate suppliers, contractors and system integrators
-Review and challenge the technical solutions proposed by external partners
-Plan and supervise equipment installations and work performed within the plant
-Coordinate activities with production, maintenance and external resources
-Participate in testing, start-up and technical troubleshooting
-Maintain project documentation and coordinate training for the affected teams
-Manage several projects simultaneously by establishing priorities, schedules and follow-up activities
Projects may involve tanks, mixers, pumps, piping networks, valve manifolds, transfer systems, automated equipment and industrial cleaning systems.
Requirements:
-University degree in mechanical engineering, automation, process engineering or a related discipline
-Significant experience independently managing industrial projects within a manufacturing environment
-Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects from needs analysis through start-up
-Good understanding of mechanical equipment, industrial processes and automation
-Experience writing technical specifications
-Experience coordinating external suppliers, contractors or system integrators
-Ability to understand and challenge technical solutions without necessarily completing all detailed design work
-Comfortable supervising installations and resolving problems directly on the shop floor
-Experience with process equipment such as tanks, mixers, pumps, piping or valves considered a strong asset
-Food manufacturing experience considered an asset
-Three-dimensional design knowledge considered a secondary asset
-Membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, or progress toward obtaining it, will be viewed favourably
-Professional French and functional English
-Strong autonomy, technical curiosity and ability to manage competing priorities
Conditions:
-Position located in Laval
-Annual salary between $90,000 and $95,000, depending on experience
-Target annual bonus of 10%
-Food manufacturing environment
-Role combining project management, technical analysis and plant-floor involvement
-Close collaboration with engineering, maintenance and operations
-Significant autonomy in project planning and execution
Are you looking for a position where you can take true ownership of your projects, challenge suppliers and see your solutions come to life within the plant? This opportunity will allow you to manage complete technical projects and contribute directly to modernizing the facility’s processes and equipment.
