Description
Do you enjoy automation, complex technical projects and travelling for work?
I’m Ella Tiberghien, Recruitment Consultant at FED ManuTech, specializing in technical, manufacturing and engineering positions.
I’m currently recruiting for a Quebec-based manufacturing company specializing in automation solutions and technology for the wood industry.
This is not a desk-based automation role. Travel currently represents approximately 40-50% of the position, with projects across Quebec, Canada, the United States and occasionally internationally.
You may spend a few days on one project, return to Blainville, and then head out to another customer site. Some assignments can require 1 to 3 weeks of travel.
If you enjoy discovering new industrial environments, working directly with customers and solving technical problems in the field, travel is one of the defining aspects of this opportunity.
You will be involved throughout the entire automation project lifecycle: design, programming, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.
You will:
Participate in the design and implementation of automated production systems;
Analyze automation requirements and contribute to technical solutions;
Program PLCs, particularly Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff;
Program and troubleshoot HMI systems, including FactoryTalk View and Beckhoff;
Analyze and modify existing PLC programs from different sources;
Develop complete functional analyses;
Prepare testing and commissioning procedures;
Commission automated systems directly at customer sites;
Install, troubleshoot and fine-tune automation systems in the field;
Assess process automation to support production quality;
Prepare technical and contractual documentation;
Provide technical support to customers by phone and email;
Contribute to project definition and technical development;
Participate in achieving team objectives;
Become a technical reference and support the training of new employees.
A DEC in Industrial Electronics, Industrial Automation, Automated Production or equivalent experience;
At least 3 years of automation experience;
Hands-on troubleshooting experience;
Strong PLC knowledge, particularly Allen-Bradley and/or Beckhoff;
HMI experience, particularly FactoryTalk View and/or Beckhoff;
Knowledge of industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, serial communication and ControlNet;
The ability to analyze existing PLC programs;
Strong Microsoft Office skills;
Good spoken and written English;
A valid driver’s license;
A valid passport;
The ability and authorization to travel to the United States.
Knowledge of .NET, C#, C or C++ is an asset, as is experience in the wood industry.
THE PERSONALITY WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone who enjoys action, challenges and constantly changing environments.
WHAT’S OFFERED
Approximately 40-50% travel currently, depending on projects;
Projects across Canada, the United States and internationally;
$50/day travel allowance;
