We are currently assisting a group with operations across Canada in the recruitment of their new Assistant Controller.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Assistant Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing the company's full accounting cycle. The role ensures the production of reliable financial information, adherence to deadlines, improvement of internal controls and processes, and compliance with current accounting standards. The candidate will work closely with our accounting team based in Vancouver, help coordinate a team of 6 employees (clerks and technicians, particularly in accounts payable), and contribute to their development as well as the efficiency of accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities
Supervise and provide guidance to the accounting team (clerks and technicians);
Ability to work effectively in a highly decentralized environment;
Oversee the complete accounting cycle, including:
Accounts payable and receivable;
Bank reconciliations;
Journal entries and month-end closings;
Analysis of key accounts such as representatives' expenses and local office costs;
Control of financial positions such as prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and investment projects;

Contribute to the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements;
Analyze inventories and ensure their proper accounting treatment;
Actively participate in audit file preparation;
Optimize processes and internal controls to improve efficiency;
Ensure compliance with current accounting, tax, and legal standards;
Work closely with the Finance Director on the documentation and analysis of financial data.

Your profile :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting;
Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant accounting experience, including team supervision;
Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle and inventory management;
Solid financial analysis skills;
Ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines;
Strong leadership, rigor, and attention to detail;
Proficiency with IT tools (advanced Excel, ERP systems, accounting software);
Strong interest in automating and streamlining processes by leveraging available technologies.
