Leader in Indigenous social and economic development wanted
Bring your skills, enthusiasm and your true self to FCC in a culture built on trust and support. It takes strong individuals to build a strong team, and with a rich pool of backgrounds, abilities, strengths and perspectives working together, we best serve our customers, reflecting the diversity of the industry and communities where we live and work.

First Nations, Métis and Inuit have always been involved in agriculture and food and are uniquely positioned to reclaim their food sovereignty and grow successful businesses. FCC has lending, products and services to help Indigenous entrepreneurs, economic development corporations and government entities fully realize their goals.

As Director, Internal Indigenous Engagement, you’ll be responsible for the execution of FCC’s Indigenous Relations strategy, Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan and leading internal collaboration across the organization.

You’ll work with internal stakeholders as well as Indigenous leaders, government, communities, representative organizations, councils, associations, and provincial and federal government officials to develop strategic partnerships that advance Indigenous agriculture and food across Canada.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead FCC’s Indigenous Relations Strategy refresh and our first Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Lead FCC’s PAR certification and related process to demonstrate our leadership, community investment, business development and human resource tactics to achieve and maintain PAR certification
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to build financing models that increase access to capital for Indigenous and under-represented groups
  • Support the Indigenous Finance team via sponsorships and events, brand strategy and marketing
  • Work with internal stakeholders to advance Indigenous procurement, community investment, communications, brand and marketing
  • Manage Indigenous self-declaration, data analytics and customer segmentation in partnership with internal leaders and teams responsible

What we’re looking for:

  • Confident, strategic leader and communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to connect and build relationships and networks across the ag and food sector
  • Leader who can manage multiple priorities and direct reports
  • A drive to help others achieve success in their reconciliation journey.

What you’ll need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, business or commerce and at least eight years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Significant experience working with Indigenous government, business and communities
  • A strong background in working with and for Indigenous social and economic development priorities and a deep understanding of Indigenous experiences, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and other related legislative and international instruments such as UNDRIP
  • A love for agriculture and advancing Indigenous food security and financial sovereignty.
