Faction Bike Studio is looking for an engineering manager to join its product development team. Do you have ideas and expertise that you would like to share? Great! We’d like to benefit from your know-how while we help you improve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the bike design team (product development, engineering, and interns).
- Act as the technical reference for design, FEA calculations, test validation, compliance with industry standards, and production of technical drawings.
- Support the planning and coordination of team activities related to ongoing and upcoming projects, in collaboration with project leaders.
- Ensure coaching, training, and skills development for team members.
- Foster a collaborative and engaging work environment.
- Validate the technical quality of deliverables.
- Maintain and enhance the team’s technical knowledge.
- Develop best practices and internal standards.
- Participate in project reviews and contribute to resolving technical and organizational challenges.
- Work closely with the Strategic Business Advisor to ensure proactive client relationship management.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to support the sales and business development teams during bidding and pre-project phases.
- Support the continuous improvement of processes, tools, and methods.
- Promote the adoption of new technologies and innovative practices within the cycling industry.
- Actively participate in technology watch and the evolution of standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with the R&D department in developing new engineering-related services.
Requirements:
- Inspirational leadership and ability to develop the full potential of a team.
- Proven skills in project management and work organization.
- Excellent communication skills (French, English), interpersonal relations, and problem-solving.
- 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or related fields.
- 5 years of experience managing an engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (modeling, assemblies, technical drawings).
- Knowledge of functional dimensioning and GD&T.
- Strong command of finite element analysis (FEA) principles and tools.
- Experience in product development.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and materials specific to the bicycle industry.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable standards (ISO 4210, EN 15194, UCI, etc.).
- Passion for cycling, an asset.
