Job Description

Previous Food Service experience in an institutional setting, preferably in a long term care setting. Current and successful completion and/or enrollment in Food Handler Training Certification course within 6 months of hire is required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and production sheets. Basic understanding of Therapeutic Diets is preferred. Solid understanding of portion control is required. Ability to take direction and perform tasks in cooperation with other staff members - team work. Must be mature, patient, courteous, and understanding when working with the elderly or disabled. Must be service oriented. Good physical and mental health. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift a maximum of 20 kgs. Must adhere to the Extendicare - Dietary Services Hair Restraint and Dress Code policies.
