Express Scripts Canada is looking for a Linux and Middleware Administrator to be part of the Infrastructure Engineering team. The primary objective of the Incumbent will be to work as a member of the Technology Services Teams working closely with Business stakeholders, Project Managers, IS Management to understand processes, business requirements and translate them into Environment technology solutions.

The Linux and Middleware Administrator role requires ability to create and analyze solutions based on business value while maintaining best design/development practices, procedures and guidelines throughout the Production Operations and Solutions Delivery lifecycle.

Furthermore, the Linux and Middleware Administrator act as a subject matter expert in RedHat Linux Administration, has the ability to perform end-to-end impact analysis of source system changes, capacity planning, performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Location: Mississauga Head Office

Working Environment: Hybrid, 2 days/week on-site

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform the Linux and Middleware system lifecycle management, including system upgrade, capacity planning and disaster recovery test on both legacy RedHat Linux and OpenShift environments.

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL) in physical and virtual environment (VMware/ESXi)

  • Implement and maintain Linux system security, including OS patching, hardening, and vulnerabilities remediation by following the standard procedures

  • Automate routine administrative task using Ansible, Bash, or Python scripting for Linux system deployment, administration and support

  • Monitor Linux system and OpenShift performance and troubleshoot issues across infrastructure systems and applications

  • Collaborate with solution development and application teams to ensure comprehensive test plans are developed and testing scripts are maintained from business specifications and ensure that defects and fixes across prioritized systems are documented, tracked and closed in conjunction with business priorities

  • Maintain documentation for system deployment, builds, procedure and configuration

  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical systems

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or computer engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in RedHat Linux system administrator

  • 3+ years of working experience as a VMware system administrator

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with RedHat OpenShift cluster administration

  • 2+ years of working experience with Dell MX7000 and HP C7000 blade system

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL v8 and v9), or other enterprise Linux distributions.

  • Working knowledge of RedHat Satellite server and Identity Management (IdM) administration and support

  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter server, DRS, HA, or other virtualization platforms

  • Strong experience with storage system (NetApp) administration and support

  • Working knowledge of Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat

  • Familiar with Dockers, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Nexus) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform)

  • Working knowledge of system security and certificates deployment (PKI, SSL)

  • Proficiency in Shell Scripting (Bash Python)

  • Knowledge of supporting Oracle RAC environment

  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing)

  • Knowledge of Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure) is an asset

  • Occasional travel within the GTA to datacenters
