EPC Canada is seeking an experienced QHSE Coordinator. Reporting to the site Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the development, implementation and promotion of a sound quality, safety, health and environment culture. For the Coté Gold site, he/she will also act as a resource person for coordinating and documenting the training to be provided, as well as influencing and guiding them in QHSE activities and processes.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Guide and help employees to take responsibility for safety management;
  • Participate in setting site priorities and objectives;
  • Coordinate health and safety activities for the entire Coté Gold site;
  • Plan, participate in and follow up QHSE audits/visits/inspections and suggest improvements;
  • Work with various regulatory bodies and ensure the company's compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Actively participate in the development of safe work processes in production, maintenance and operational functions by targeting high-risk activities (e.g. by conducting HAZOP studies);
  • Develop and draft health and safety policies, work instructions and regulations, and ensure their deployment and application;
  • Support functional supervisors and teams in carrying out incident/accident investigations, determining causes and proposing applicable corrective measures, involving all stakeholders, including Human resources;
  • Lead OHS meetings and inform employees about the risks and hazards associated with tasks, positions, products and equipment used, and the work environment;
  • Monitor QHSE best practices with a view to continuous improvement of existing processes and procedures;
  • Participate in quality control systems and ISO standards;
  • Participate in quality analyses and controls in product manufacturing;
  • Ensure that prevention plan activities are carried out;
  • Coordinate training activities required on the mine site;
  • Write safety and compliance work procedures;
  • Carry out all other tasks relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

Qualifications required

  • College or university training in OHS prevention and management, industrial engineering or an equivalent or related field;
  • 3 to 5 years' significant experience in occupational health and safety;
  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001, 14 001 and 45 001 standards;
  • Knowledge of explosive products and legislation relating to the transportation of hazardous materials (an asset);
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license (automobiles);
  • No legal impediments related to employment;
  • Ability to write and express verbally in English;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Conditions of use

  • Permanent, full-time position;
  • Work schedule of 14/14, from Wednesday to Wednesday;
  • Overtime paid after 44 hours from Sunday to Saturday;
  • Travel expenses paid/reimbursed by EPC Canada;
  • Possibility of being called in to work irregular hours occasionally;
  • Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment with varying weather conditions, occasionally.
