Government and Public Affairs Manager

Required:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in government relations, political policy or public affairs
  • Must have direct experience working with federal and/or provincial legislative processes
  • Must have the ability to register as an in-house lobbyist in compliance with federal and provincial lobbying laws
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (English and French) – excellent written and verbal proficiency in both languages
  • Experience with car rental, transportation, mobility, automotive, technology, or data policy
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and industry associations

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Federal Government Affairs (Primary Focus)

  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies that advance the company’s federal public policy priorities
  • Monitor and analyze federal legislation, regulatory developments, and political dynamics related to transportation, mobility, data and technology to recommend company actions needed to address issues effectively
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with government and political stakeholders, elected officials, public servants, and regulatory agencies, while representing Enterprise Mobility
  • Prepare policy briefs, submissions, and materials on behalf fo the company to attend government related meetings that further the reputation of Enteprise as a leader in corporate responsibility
  • Represent the company in consultations, advisory groups, industry associations, and policy coalitions
  • Work with and manage external public affairs vendors

Provincial Affairs (Secondary Focus)

  • Support advocacy initiatives in key provinces – particularly Ontario and Quebec
  • Track and assess provincial policy and regulatory changes affecting the company’s operations
  • Help coordinate federal-provincial aliignment across releveant policy files

Internal Collaboration

  • Analyze, review, and summarize proposed legislative and regulatory actions and the impact on the transport and mobility industry, communicating significant proposals to various levels of management for review and coordination of responses
  • Develop internal briefing materials for executives and cross-functional partners
  • Collect and process various data for analysis, reporting, and to support policy development and advocacy in driving strategic business interests
