The Specialist Financial Planning & Analysis Liquids Pipelines is accountable for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Enterprise FP&A Budgets & Forecast functions under the guidance of the Business Partner.

The Specialist leads the development of a group of LP assets budget, forecasts and long range forecasts, including a full set of projected financial documents, through Hyperion financial systems. You will also support the Business Partner with analysis of critical issues and opportunities identified in the projections of the LP assets through extensive knowledge of LP asset drivers.

What You Will Do:
  • Develops and reports a group of LP assets consolidated annual Budget; forecasts of anticipated consolidated results; and long range forecast of financial results and positions contained within the Strategic Plan. This includes ensuring congruence of the financial information with the plans and policies of the enterprise. As well, effective and comprehensive analysis is required to bring management focus to the critical underlying issues and opportunities identified in the projections in all of the businesses of the enterprise.

  • Prepares, reports and presents consolidated budget and forecast material to LP finance senior management (Director and VP) and prepares Board presentations.

  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with BU asset teams, as well as BD, Treasury, Tax, Risk, Corp Planning, and Financial Reporting, to ensure that financial projections are valid and incorporate their collective outlook.

  • Works closely with the GL team to effectively provide a comprehensive analysis of actual results vs budget/forecast as required to bring management focus to the critical underlying issues and opportunities.

  • Works closely with the Internal Financial Reporting team to ensure findings in actuals are reflected in forward-looking forecasts and vice-versa, as applicable.

  • Indirectly is responsible for a team of 3-5 staff members to ensure group deliverables are met, as well as to provide strong leadership and review of work performed by junior staff

  • Supports management, and leads projects, to develop projections to meet the needs of other corporate groups. For instance, providing pro forma financial documents for Credit Rating Agencies, earnings at risk projections for the Risk Management group, as well as ad hoc requests from internal parties.

Who You Are:
  • Designated accountant (CPA) or certified financial analyst (CFA) with 10+ years of experience.

  • Strong analytical skills to validate and challenge information provided by various sources.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.

  • Prior experience in Hyperion Planning, Essbase and/or Hyperion Strategic Finance or other financial planning tools an asset.

  • Prior experience with modelling sophisticated organizations an asset.

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP an asset.

  • Strong project management and team skills, including the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects and work under significant time pressures.


Working Conditions:

Office environment with low to moderate travel within North America.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
