This is an outstanding opportunity to apply your environmental expertise to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Environmental Protection Program.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead the Hazardous Waste Management and Sampling Program for company operations in Ontario and Quebec.

  • Provide broad knowledge and experience with hazardous waste management including interpretation of environmental laboratory analytical results to determine compliance, hazardous waste characterization and provide waste disposal instructions to meet provincial requirements.

  • Maintain company’s Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) Hazardous Waste Registry records in good standing, including completion of generator site and waste class registrations, payments, manifests, etc. and maintain internal sampling records database.

  • Provide timely support and expertise for all hazardous waste and waste sampling related inquiries, as the primary point of contact; provide general environmental support across organization.

  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly hazardous waste pick-ups at locations across Ontario and Quebec.

  • Conduct hazardous waste storage inspections, engage and coach employees on improvements and develop action plans to address deficiencies.

  • Track and report on hazardous waste metrics; prepare annual federal and provincial PCB waste reports.

  • Responsible for maintaining awareness of new/updated legislative requirements, updating and aligning processes and procedures, and optimizing operational procedures for effective implementation and compliance.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for hazardous waste service providers, and laboratory services, for technical, scheduling and procurement activities.

  • Manage internal sample kit inventory including purchasing, assembly and distribution.

  • Lead, coordinate and actively promote environmental protection programs including developing and delivering presentations, training courses, and information sessions.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in environmental science or engineering.

  • You possess a professional designation in the environmental field (P.Eng., P.Geo., EP).

  • You have 5+ years of experience in environmental engineering/science.

  • Proven understanding and application of provincial and federal environmental legislation, with specific knowledge and experience with the Ontario Environmental Protection Act, and Ontario Regulation 347: General - Waste Management.

  • Experience with implementing Environment Management Systems objectives and requirements.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and connect to a wide audience of internal and external partners.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions
  • Typical office environment with occasional travel to project sites and other office locations (approx. 10% of time).

  • Capability and availability to assist with environmental emergency situations including after-hours requests, when required.
