Nature of the work
The Socio-Vocational Integration (SVI) teacher provides training, guidance, constructive feedback, and practical resources to home-care residence staff through both individual coaching and group sessions.
The role focuses on empowering staff by cultivating interpersonal awareness, emotional intelligence, and professional confidence—enabling them to deliver compassionate, high-quality, person-centered care to all residents, while also fostering respectful, collaborative relationships with coworkers.
Description of tasks
- Deliver training based on the Socio-Vocational Integration (SVI) curriculum guidelines
- Supervise and support employees in the performance of their daily tasks
- Facilitate individual and group meetings to address learning needs and workplace integration
- Operate primarily within the home-care residence setting, providing on-site guidance
- Collaborate directly with care workers during their shifts to provide real-time coaching
- Offer flexible training, including occasional evening or weekend sessions based on staff availability
- Teach and model key savoir-être (professional interpersonal skills) to individuals with diverse learning needs, limited work experience, or employment barriers
- Demonstrate adaptability and maintain professionalism in dynamic or high-pressure situations
- Foster employee confidence and build trust within the workplace environment
- Provide monthly updates and reports on employee progress and development
- Participate in regular meetings with the residence coordinator and/or human resources personnel
- Support employees in setting and achieving realistic vocational goals
Desired profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with a valid Teaching Certificate (Brevet)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring, preferably in employment readiness or vocational training
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Recommended: Experience in individual and group counseling
- Strong knowledge of career development tools, including résumé writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation
- Ability to teach and model the “how-to-be” (savoir-être) of employment to individuals with diverse learning needs, limited work experience, or other employment barriers
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for empowering others
- Adaptable and flexible in dynamic, high-pressure environments, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
