POSITION: One (1) Permanent Position - Secretary - General Administration

LOCATION: Lifetime Learning Centre (LLC)

RATE OF PAY: $25.46 - $28.09 per hour

SCHEDULE: 35 hours per week - 10 Month Position

Position Summary:

The successful applicant to this position will be required to assist the Attendance Counsellor and will support the Attendance Counsellor with portfolio administration and assist the Instructional Outreach Coordinator with application processing. This position also includes the Supervised Alternative Learning (SAL) portfolio. The work involves working extensively with computer software programs to support school attendance, correspondence, and academic reporting. The clerical operations are varied and require attention to detail particularly when they concern student attendance and accurate recording of C - codes. Applicants are required to deal with telephone and email inquiries from administrators in a positive and professional manner. The position includes the organization, preparation, and record keeping for board SAL committee meetings including minutes, attendance and decisions made. The successful applicant will ensure that SAL and Instructional Outreach applications are tracked accordingly and maintain accurate recording of C - code submissions. Demonstrated proficiency and experience must include ability to efficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel, student data base management ( Aspen ) as well as other electronic systems used by the Board and a general knowledge of office procedures and school programs. A knowledge of Google Docs, Adobe (or similar software) is also required. The successful applicant must also have demonstrated skill and ability in maintaining organization in a busy office.

Qualification:

  • Applicants must have Grade 12 education (a minimum two - year College diploma in Office Administration is preferred. Applicants must have the equivalent of ten (10) working months of clerical/secretarial experience in a school board setting within the past two (2) years, which demonstrates proficiency in the functions described above.
