SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who evaluates a person’s nutritional status and determines and implements intervention strategies aimed at adapting nutrition based on the person’s needs to maintain or restore health. She/he participates in clinical teaching.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
The Community Miyupimaatisiiun (Health) Center (CMC) provides frontline and community health services to the local population. The nutritionist for this position is called upon to:
• Assess clients' nutritional needs and make recommendations;
• Develop, implement and manage local healthy eating education programs that meet customer needs;
• Provide statistics according to the services rendered;
• Provide support, training or advice within their scope of practice to other staff members, health care providers or caregivers;
• Promote good organizational functioning and, indirectly, quality services to the population;
• Perform other related tasks usually assigned to a nutritionist at the request of his supervisor;
• Participate in the development and implementation of community activities to promote healthy eating habits;
• Continue to update their clinical knowledge and apply ODNQ practice guidelines and standards.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Must hold a bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition.

Must be a member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (Quebec Order of Dietitians and Nutritionists).
Experience:
• Clinical experience as a nutritionist in various fields and programs is an asset;
• Experience as a clinician in Eeyou Istchee territory is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Excellent knowledge of professional standards, clinical practice guidelines and legislation;
• Excellent ability to apply evidence-based practice to clinical situations;
• Respect for Eeyou/Eenou culture, values, traditions and teachings in the implementation of programs and services;
• Good understanding of health issues as they relate to paramedical services;
• Ability to popularize theoretical and practical knowledge in a context of consultation and support to other health professionals;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Autonomy, discretion and empathy;
• Aptitude for teamwork

LANGUAGE
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
