SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The incumbent of the position will hold a permanent full-time position but will be governed by the 4x4 Floating Team agreement as a part time position working 4 weeks in a row followed by 4 weeks of absences including certain provisions.
The Nursing Float Team is a group of nurses and licensed practical nurses that will rotate assignation in various communities. The planning of the rotation will be done according to the need of the communities and in partnership with the AIS and members of the team. One aim of this project is to create variety in the different position available in the organization.
The nurse is responsible for providing nursing care services according to the bio-psycho-social needs of users or groups under her/his care. She/he evaluates the health condition of users, as well as determines and implements nursing care and treatment plans. She/he provides nursing and medical care and treatment aimed at maintaining and restoring health, as well as preventing disease.
Depending on the varying needs of different communities, the nurse may be assigned to position other than hemodialysis, based on his/her expertise and experience.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
• The nurse holding this position will support the communities where dialysis (home hemodialysis or in-center dialysis) is dispensed. The assistant to the immediate supervisor for the Nursing Floating Teams will assign the nurse to an assignment for these communities. The nurse will be assigned based on her experience and training;
• The nurse of this team will act as a nurse of the community/unit and do the tasks generally done by the nurses in the department of assignation;
• The nurse may be assigned to mandates other than hemodialysis as needed and in accordance with her experience and training
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q.
Experience:
• Two (2) years of experience as a nurse in direct care setting;
• One (1) year of experience in hemodialysis.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Fresenius 5008 and Nephrocare software;
• Knowledge of Cree culture and social and health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
• Good resistance to stress;
• Excellent communication and listening skills;
• Take initiative and be autonomous;
• Open to other’s culture, ability to adapt to change and to adapt to a new environment;
• Demonstrate independence, flexibility and empathy.
LANGUAGE
• Fluent in English;
• Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
OTHER
• This position includes on-call periods;
• A training can be provided for home hemodialysis;
• The incumbent of the position will benefit from the per diem according to the business travel policy and procedure.
