SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Person who helps assess and analyses the needs of users, establish norms and standards of professional practice and devise appropriate solutions in order to help the institution improve the quality of its professional activities.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
The Clinical Services Specialist will be responsible for providing clinical oversight and support for case managers providing specialized case management/wraparound services and supports; maintaining a case load; working closely with community partners such as justice system, community Wellness Centers Person who represents and values both Iyiyu/Iinuu and mainstream clinical healing practices while maintaining formal links to CMC health and social services team to help assess and analyses the needs of users. Other responsibilities include, but limited to:

• Supports in the development and designing of Miiniwaauchihiwaaukimkw Healing Lodge programs and services;
• Ensures and participates to the development, implementation, evaluation and review of rehabilitation programs to ensure culturally safe healing practices;
• Gives support to the rehabilitation staff to understand the family dynamic and addictions related issue;
• Participates to the identification of the needs the participant’s clinical profile and care plan;
• Ensure case management processes and collaboration of both mainstream clinical and Elders or cultural practitioners are embedded in the programs and services;
• Promotes culturally competent screening and assessment;
• Promotes cultural awareness and safety when collaborating with services providers;
• Promotes increased knowledge between service providers on the use of both traditional medicines and prescribe medications;
• Consult with all service providers and cultural practitioners, Elders on the use integration of both traditional indigenous and mainstream approaches to promote wellness and to treat substance abuse disorders.
• Performs other duties normally assigned to a Clinical Services Specialist as requested by his/her supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Bachelor degree in social work, psycho education, criminology or other degree deemed relevant.

Experience:
• Two (2) years of relevant experience, as of: in working with individuals and their families in a well-defined clinical intervention, in a community based or working in a framework based on the fundamentals of providing care for persons with addictions;
• Experience in supervision.

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Knowledge of the Iiyuu/Innu Traditional Healing approaches and practices;
• Knowledge of the Wellness Recovery for Addictions;
• Strong knowledge of the psychosocial clinical processes and intervention protocols;
• Talent to effectively convey the person and family centered, integrative, collaborative approaches and practices;
• Ability to be adaptable to different culture and environments;
• Good judgment and a professional autonomy;
• An excellent sense of the organization;
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents and deliver presentations and trainings;
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience in working effectively in an independent capacity and as a member of the team.

LANGUAGE
• Fluent in Cree and English;
• Fluency in French is an asset.

OTHER
• Available for travel in the various communities.
