ASSISTANT HEAD MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST - LABORATORY (P-2526-0325)

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Medical technologist or graduate medical laboratory technician who, in one or more medical laboratory disciplines, shares responsibilities with the head technologist for the entire range of techniques that are used. This person contributes to developing new specialized techniques, over and above the usual routine analyses that are required in medical laboratories.

She/he must oversee, when required, the orientation and systematic training of any staff under their supervision, in addition to monitoring the quality of the work performed by staff members belonging to any category of personnel (including resident physicians)

She/he may be called upon to participate in the daily administration of her/his service. She/he assists the head technologist in her/his functions and replaces her/him during regular absences.

Education:

  • Degree in biomedical laboratory technology or its equivalent recognized by the ministry of Education;
  • Membership in a professional association or organization: OPTMQ (Ordre Professionnel des technologists médicaux du Québec (Professional Association of Medical Technologists of Quebec)) mandatory, passed pharmacology courses.

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience;
  • Le travail administratif en laboratoire est un atout.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of the technology used in biochemistry; hematology, microbiology, and blood bank
  • Demonstrates personal integrity;

  • Makes suggestions or comments that could improve the quality of the department's activities;
  • Carry out any other tasks requested by the manager.

LANGUAGE* Fluent in English and French;* Fluency in Cree is an asset.
