Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent is responsible for the overall management and operational performance of the site. They ensure the efficient execution of operations to maintain product quality, meet customer commitments, optimize costs, and achieve the company’s strategic objectives within a highly regulated environment.
The incumbent acts as a motivating leader for multidisciplinary teams and actively contributes to continuous improvement, site competitiveness, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall management of site manufacturing operations within an aerospace environment;
- Deploy operational strategies aimed at improving performance, productivity, and profitability;
- Lead, motivate, and develop production teams and departmental managers;
- Ensure the achievement of objectives related to quality, cost, delivery, health & safety, and operational efficiency;
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement based on Lean Manufacturing principles and industry best practices;
- Supervise production activities to ensure compliance with schedules, customer requirements, and quality standards;
- Collaborate closely with on-site teams and Corporate functions;
- Participate in the development of operational budgets and ensure rigorous monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs);
- Monitor and improve operational performance indicators such as OTD (On-Time Delivery), productivity, efficiency, quality, and costs;
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and manufacturing capacity improvement;
- Actively participate in operational transformation and change management initiatives;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, health & safety requirements, and aerospace industry compliance standards;
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and regulatory compliance within operations;
- Support and promote talent development, training, and succession planning within teams;
- Participate in operational reviews;
- Provide management with analyses and reports related to the site’s operational and financial performance;
- Actively contribute to growth initiatives, transformation projects, and organizational improvement efforts.
Job Requirements
Education
- University degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or any other related discipline;
- Additional training in Operations Management or Business Administration (an asset);
Technical Competencies
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a senior operational management role within a manufacturing environment;
- Experience in the aerospace industry or within a highly regulated environment;
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and supporting organizational development;
- Experience in continuous improvement and manufacturing operations optimization;
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Experience in operational transformation and organizational change management;
- Good understanding of financial analysis principles;
- Good understanding of ERP environments
- Knowledge of Kaizen methodologies, 5S, operational KPIs, and process optimization (an asset);
- Good understanding of quality standards and compliance requirements related to the manufacturing/aerospace sector (an asset);
- Knowledge of AS9100 standards and aerospace industry compliance requirements;
- Experience managing relationships with OEMs or strategic clients within the manufacturing/aerospace sector (an asset);
