Senior Accountant Collaborating with the General Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses using hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices. This role is responsible for actively resolving environmental fee issues and ensuring key account reconciliations and verification. How you’ll make a huge impact here - and in your career: Ensures the integrity of AP Holding Account by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. Maintaining multiple general ledgers by inputting monthly transactions and working with various departments to ensure accuracy; reconciling balance sheets and GL accounts. Acting as primary contact for bid deposit requests and collecting them once the term ends. Assisting the Accounts Receivable department with requests to create manual credits/invoices. Assisting the Accounts Payable department with requests to set up new vendors for EFT. Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making ie: variance analysis. Provide recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency. Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulations. Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of internal processes. Evaluate and improve processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Communicate financial information and analysis to senior management to provide explanations and insights into financial performance and trends. Participate and support various ad hoc business analyses as required. Skills and qualifications, you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related education & experience Responsible for setting up and updating environmental fees in JDE and all compliance audits as required; record Environmental fees in accordance with the law. CPA Designation 5+ years of financial accounting experience Takes initiative, creative thinker - will actively look to detect issues and resolve them. Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills. Ability to Use Microsoft Access, Power BI and Macros. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbally. Proficient in JD Edwards or other ERP software is preferred and would be an asset. Strong understanding of financial accounting concepts related to ASPE, an asset.
