The City of Mississauga is excited to offer a Digital Marketing & Events Co-op position with its dynamic IDEA Mississauga team, within Invest Mississauga. IDEA Mississauga is seeking a motivated individual to provide hands-on support in digital marketing, assisting in the planning and execution of programs and events, and supporting clients with business information and resources. You will play a key role in promoting and supporting IDEA Mississauga’s initiatives and providing meaningful support to IDEA Mississauga clients.
This co-op position offers you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business and entrepreneurship within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll work closely with a dedicated and passionate team, and contribute to impactful community initiatives while building your professional skills.
• Creating and editing compelling content for articles, blogs, e-newsletters, websites, social media, and promotional materials.
• Conducting client interviews to develop success stories and testimonials.
• Collaborating with the City’s marketing team to ensure digital content aligns with the City of Mississauga’s brand and supports broader objectives.
• Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of IDEA Mississauga programs, workshops, and events, which may include occasional evening work.
• Providing guidance to clients on adopting digital tools and technologies to grow their businesses.
• Providing administrative support at Mississauga’s entrepreneurship hub, IDEA Square One, which includes delivering excellent customer service, responding to walk-ins, emails and telephone inquiries.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Currently enrolled at University or College in a job-related program.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficient in writing, content creation and editing for digital marketing platforms and printed materials.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience with social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and website development tools.
• Familiarity with digital tools such as content scheduling platforms, website analytics, and social media management tools is an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Passion for digital marketing, event planning, and community engagement.
• Primarily in-person office environment.
