CHSLD Wales is currently seeking a Gerontology Technician to fill a one-year temporary maternity leave replacement. The selected individual will organize, implement, and evaluate activities that meet residents’ psychosocial, physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs. The person accommodates residents across the care continuum and organizes joint activities to stimulate social interactions between the residents from both entities.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Greet new residents and perform initial leisure assessment
  • Provide and implement an extensive and varied social program for residents
  • Collaborate with coworkers, volunteers, and entertainers to organize successful activities
  • Evaluate activity success and participation
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings for residents
  • Contribute to sector budget management and order activity supplies with the Purchaser
  • Inform and supervise students and volunteers working in the department

Requested skills

  • Must have a college diploma (DEC) in an appropriate discipline from a school recognized by the relevant ministry
  • Familiar with community resources, an asset
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and French. This position requires English to meet residents’ needs, who are primarily English speakers
  • Two years of experience, an asset
