Mechanic's Helper
Full-Time Permanent (1.0 FTE - 8 hours per day - 12 months)

Qualifications:
- Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to work as a team player
- Able to work co-operatively with garage personnel, bus drivers, and the public
- Able to do heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Deal tactfully with staff and the public.
- Maintain the garage in a clean, neat, and well-organized manner.
- Practice safe work habits at all times
- Empty garbage containers as required
- Clean and organize common areas in the garage
- Assist mechanics with day-to-day servicing of buses and other school division owned vehicles
- Assist mechanics with the annual safety inspection of buses
- Wash and clean division vehicles, spare buses and route buses as required
- Pick up and deliver buses and other division vehicles as required
- Ensure spare buses are ready for their next use
- Assist mechanics with heavy or two person tasks
- Assist mechanics with telephone duties, i.e. answering the telephone during busy periods, taking messages, and making telephone calls
- Assist mechanics with inventory ensuring parts are in stock
- Practice safe work habits at all times
- Promote the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division
- Other duties as assigned
