Security Guard 2 - Women's Secure Forensic Unit-camh

The Complex Care and Recovery Program, Forensic Division requires a part-time, permanent Security Guard 2 to work on the Women’s Secure Forensic Unit (WSFU) and Secure Observation and Treatment Unit (SOTU) to provide surveillance and assistance for patients, visitors and staff. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and control movement of patients, staff and visitors through the perimeter of the Unit. You will also be responsible for providing both interior and perimeter security measures for the inpatient unit by means of surveillance and documentation as well as being responsible for key control. You will escort clients from Unit 3 to appointments throughout the GTA. In addition, you will occasionally perform security checks of the unit perimeter and safety/security equipment on the unit, as well as patient searches. You will be required to work extended tours, which include days, nights and weekends. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West. Candidates must be available to work on all shifts - days, evenings, nights, weekends, including holidays.

You must have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public, staff and clients. A motivated team player with a positive service-oriented approach, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated sensitivity towards Mental Health and Addiction clientele. The incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision, problem-solve and exercise good judgment in varied situations. You possess a fundamental understanding of computers and software applications. Knowledge of fire and hospital emergency response procedures, W.H.M.I.S. and non-violent crisis intervention techniques are considered assets. The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
