The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, permanent, highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Commercialization Associate to join our Industry Partnerships & Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO). This role supports CAMH’s strategic goal of translating research discoveries into impactful innovations that improve mental health outcomes.

As a key member of the IPTTO team, you will provide informed analysis, technology assessment, and market research support to help evaluate and advance CAMH-born inventions. You will work closely with researchers, legal counsel, industry partners, and commercialization professionals to support intellectual property protection, startup development, and industry engagement.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and assess inventive research through interviews and prior art searches.
  • Assist with patent filings and manage CAMH’s internal IP database.
  • Support commercialization efforts with pitch decks, investor materials, and milestone tracking.
  • Organize industry meetings and partnering events; maintain CRM systems.
  • Draft and manage commercialization agreements and support grant applications.
  • Contribute to IP education and promote entrepreneurship within the research community.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in Life Sciences or Medical Technology, Education/Degree in Law and/or Business Administration an asset
  • 1-3 years of research experience in biological, medical, or pharmaceutical fields
  • 1-3 years of experience in technology transfer or business development experience in a research, hospital, academic or corporate environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of IP protection, patent law, and commercialization processes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex science for diverse audiences
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders including scientists, administrators, industry representatives, senior management and attorneys
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Minuet database software is an asset
  • Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) or Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) is an asset

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $83,797.50 - $104,746.88 per year.
  • Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of $83,797.50 - $125,696.26 per year
