Based in the Child Youth & Emerging Adult Program, the donor funded McCain Centre is focused on enhancing and improving the design, delivery and effectiveness of mental health and substance use care systems, services and policies for children and youth aged 6-25 through clinical and health services research. The McCain Centre combines established and innovative research techniques and includes a focus on ensuring youth and parent voices are centred in their initiatives. The McCain Centre is seeking a part-time, contract (until December 31, 2025) Research Assistant 2 to assist with an ongoing clinical trial at CAMH. The successful applicant will have a background that will allow them to support a project involving assessment and intervention with parents with depression and their children who have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Responsibilities will include supporting participant recruitment of parents and children referred to the child youth and emerging adult program and adult mood and anxiety services at CAMH. The Research Assistant 2 will also conduct screening and pre- and post-treatment assessment with families and support communication with study participants and families, and collaborating partners at Woman’s College Hospital. Processing and entering data, updating research databases, performing quality control checks of research data, organizing study files; preparing data collection materials, and performing other office duties, as appropriate will be required.
You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. This position is located at 80 Workman Way.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of three (3) years of community college in a relevant program, with one (1) year relevant research experience. Experience working with children with disruptive behaviour and parents in a clinical context is required. Experience with parent-child interaction tasks, physiological monitoring equipment, and conducting child focused interview is required. The successful candidate will have experience interacting with demographically and diverse individuals. Experience as a member of research team collaborating with team members in a multi-disciplinary team environment is an asset. Experience working with REDCap, SPSS and Endnote is preferred. Strong PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel) are required. This position requires superior attention to detail. You will be well organized, with the ability to meet deadlines, to follow detailed protocols, and to work independently with minimal supervision. You will possess superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication and organization skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
You have sound knowledge of equitable environments and will support and implement anti-oppressive and anti-racist best practices in the workplace and with research participants, youth and families. You have an understanding of systemic barriers and individual experiences in the sector and have the ability to work with stakeholders of identities and ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds.
