The Pharmacogenetics Research Clinic is currently looking for one (1) full-time, contract Research Analyst to assist in exciting studies investigating the genetic causes of variation in psychiatric medication response and side effects. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruitment and coordination of study projects, in particular for ongoing clinical trials. The successful candidate will assist in the recruitment of research subjects; scheduling and coordinating intake and follow up interviews; specimen collection (saliva, blood); administering EEG; conducting structured interviews including (but not limited to) SCID-V, MADRS, and rating scales for medication side effects; and data entry and analysis for clinical research. The incumbent will take initiative in designing and proposing novel recruitment approaches and where appropriate suggest methods of increasing efficiency in running clinical trial visits. The successful candidate will work and interact with a large team of scientists, Post-doctoral Fellows, Research Coordinators and Research Analysts. Data management, confidential storage, and distribution are also vital components of the position. Some occasional evening and weekend work might be required, to assist in organizing and attending meetings with collaborators. This onsite position is located at 250 College Street; travel to other sites both internal and external to CAMH Queen Street Site (1001 Queen Street West) is involved.

The successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in psychology or similar mental health related discipline combined with at least one (1) year of health/mental health research experience in conducting clinical trials. Experience with setting up new Research Ethics proposals is required. Experience with the DSM-IV or DSM5 (SCID) for psychiatric disorders and the other diagnostic interviews listed above, as well as administering EEG are also strong assets. Proven ability to effectively explain research studies, including ethical issues, and issues of confidentiality are necessary. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written) and the ability to work effectively and strategically with a variety of programs and in a dynamic clinical/research team environment are essential. Demonstrated Knowledge of PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), data entry, and statistical software (SPSS) and the ability to learn new programs as necessary are required. Experiences with creating and updating websites and/or social media sites would be considered as strong asset. You must have experience working with a culturally diverse range of mental health clients. Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an additional asset.
