The First Impressions Team is currently seeking a full-time, permanent, Community Ambassador. As one of the first points of contact with the public, this position with CAMH’s First Impressions program is an exciting opportunity to help transform the lives of people living with mental illness and/or addictions. As a front-line communicator, the Community Ambassador plays a key role in ensuring that CAMH is a welcoming, informative and safe environment for all, particularly for patients, family members, staff and the general public. You will provide excellent customer service and foster respectful relationships with the CAMH community as you provide information, wayfinding and communicate about CAMH and its programs, services and initiatives. This position supports the implementation of CAMH’s internal and external community engagement initiatives. You will also, as directed, monitor public spaces at CAMH for safety, accessibility, and other issues. This position promotes a tobacco-free CAMH by engaging patients, staff and the general public who smoke on CAMH property to educate and appropriately redirect them. This position will report to the Manager, First Impressions, Community Engagement. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. The position is located at the Queen Street Site.

The successful candidate will have two years of front line, forward-facing experience working and communicating with the general public preferably in the mental health and addictions field. Knowledge of mental health and addictions issues is preferred. Strong communications, excellent customer service skills, resourcefulness, well-developed interpersonal skills, sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, tact, courtesy and patience are required. Looking for someone who is approachable and professional with an outgoing and energetic personality. Excellent computer and organizational skills are also needed. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and will thrive in a dynamic, diverse environment. You will possess demonstrated ability and interest in working with a diverse patient base and in an environment that values equity. Personal and/or lived experience in the mental health or addictions system is a strong asset. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would also be a strong asset.
