About this opportunity:

The Conventional Operations Team is looking to fill a Calgary-based Staff Plant Engineering role for the conventional business. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Conventional Operations Engineering, this highly dynamic role is responsible for maximizing value by providing technical engineering support and business acumen to ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations at their facilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Prioritize safety as a core value in work design and execution at our facilities, emphasizing Process Safety in design and operation

  • Provide technical infrastructure, design, and process engineering support, including process modelling, compressor evaluations, valve sizing, and understanding applicable codes & standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, CSA Z662, API)

  • Manage day-to-day plant activities and ensure clear communication and transfer of duties to the area Operations or Facilities Engineer as workload dictates

  • Collaborate on shutdown prioritization, planning, and execution with field leadership

  • Maintain regulatory compliance at all facilities, including GHG reporting, monthly reporting, EPEA, noise, dehy emissions, LEMS, CEPA, and facility licensing

  • Foster a collaborative environment with field personnel to develop and implement engineered solutions to maintenance and operational issues

  • Accountable for project technical prioritization, design, cost estimating, and economic analysis, ensuring alignment with corporate initiatives and budgets

  • Collaborate with key collaborators to review monthly plant business performance, challenge anomalies, and find opportunities to optimize area value

  • Provide mentorship to other staff and encourage a culture of knowledge sharing and open communication throughout Conventional

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Professional Engineer sanctioned by APEGA with the ability to authenticate mechanical engineering deliverables

  • Twelve or more years of relevant operations and facility engineering experience

  • Knowledge and application of frequently used codes (e.g., ASME B31.3, CSA Z662)

  • Strong operations troubleshooting skills with the ability to make timely and consistent decisions on a broad variety of topics
