About this opportunity:

Downstream Operations currently has an opportunity for an Operations Senior Shift Supervisor at the Lloydminster Upgrader. This position oversees all Operations shift activities and provides guidance and direct supervision for the execution of daily work of the facility and the overall operations strategy.

Work Environment:

  • Work schedule is comprised of a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays (2 days/2 nights on, 5 days off; 2 days/3 nights on, 4 off; 3 days/2 nights on, 5 off).

What you’ll do:

  • You will be 1 of 2 Shift Supervisors with 15 to 18 direct reports each.

  • Provide overall direction and support for Operations personnel to achieve operational objectives including overseeing daily activities and scheduling.

  • Provide input and coordination of plant optimization efforts, plant start-ups/shutdowns, process recovery, and activation of the ERT (Emergency response team) as required.

  • Champion Health, Safety and Environmental compliance management.

  • Ensure daily orders, maintenance schedule, and short-term plans (STP) are completed.

  • Manage work order approval process and maintain paper and electronic logs.

  • Work collaboratively with cross functional teams including Maintenance, Turnaround, Operations, Engineering etc.

  • Coach and mentor Operations personnel including Operator training and development plans.

Who you are:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate, 2nd class power engineering certification would be an asset.

  • 10+ years’ operating experience in an industrial plant setting - preferably oil and gas industry. Experience in a Refinery/Upgrading facility would be an asset.

  • Experience with safety management systems, practices, regulations, and standards.

  • Leadership skills - experience with mentoring, guiding, and developing personnel.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, organization, and facilitation skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.

  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Cenovus Drug and Alcohol policy which includes pre-assignment testing.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
