The Site Engineer provides technical and administrative expertise in the execution of construction projects, helping ensure effective planning, coordination and follow-up for assigned worksites. They act as the on-site technical reference, support the supervisor and the project manager and help ensure compliance of the work, quality of execution and adherence to methods, drawings and HSE requirements, while contributing to the safe and efficient progress of the work. The successful candidate must be mobile, as the position will be based primarily on site.

· Work with the Engineering and Projects departments to determine the most effective installation procedures;

· Promote Canmec’s health and safety culture;

· Work with supervisors to develop technical solutions to issues encountered on site;

· Receive equipment ready for installation and plan installation logistics;

· Provide technical support to site operations based on established methods and procedures;

· Monitor work progress and adjust site logistics as needed;

· Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, procedures and applicable requirements;

· Identify and correct deficiencies in site practices;

· Prepare or validate technical site reports;

· Document best practices for resolving on-site issues;

· Ensure the quality of installation work;

· Coordinate site inspections and support the quality inspector during client audits;

· Perform alignment and lifting calculations as well as other technical analyses;

· Work with project managers to review, comment on and prepare the documentation required on site;

· Ensure site documentation is submitted to the client on time;

· Maintain effective communication with the various Canmec stakeholders involved in assigned projects;

· Work closely with the various departments, including Project Management, Manufacturing and Site teams;

Requested skills

·         Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering;

·         Member of the OIQ;

·         Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications;

·         Knowledge of the hydroelectric and/or aluminum and/or industrial mechanics and/or mechanically welded fabrication sectors;

·         Proficiency in English, as the role involves working with English-speaking clients;

·         Knowledge of project scheduling software;

·         Excellent command of spoken and written English;

·         Technical knowledge of welding, including standards, calculations, supervision and related practices;

·         Strong sense of responsibility
