The Opportunity:

Are you a student looking for an exciting opportunity that provides meaningful, hands-on field experience working alongside industry professionals? Join Canadian Natural’s Abandonment & Reclamation team, where you will contribute directly to environmental assessment and reclamation programs while developing practical technical skills.

We are looking for a motivated student to join our busy Developmental Operational team to support electromagnetic (EM) survey operations throughout the summer field season. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced technical staff and progressively transition to independently completing field surveys across multiple sites and areas.   • Job location: Calgary, AB - Head Office with frequent field visits as required
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday - Friday)
  • Term length: 8 months
  • Term starts: May 2026
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Abandonment & Reclamation team through field data acquisition activities related to electromagnetic (EM) surveys
  • Collect EM31 and EM38 data at active and legacy wellsites to support contaminated soil delineation and reclamation planning
  • Assist with field setup including GPS positioning, survey layout, and safety documentation
  • Perform equipment checks, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate field records and organize collected data
  • Gain exposure to industry software including Surfer and SiteView for data visualization and site review
  • Following initial training, independently complete assigned survey programs

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Geoscience, Environmental, or related technical program (Petroleum/Oil & Gas disciplines preferred)
  • Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license
  • Motivated, reliable, and able to work independently after training
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized field procedures
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions, including extended walking while carrying field equipment
  • Proficient with excel and have some experience with GIS software
