THE ROLE

As a Tourist Guide, you greet visitors, conduct guided tours, provide interpretation and assistance to individual clients and groups. You provide animation during school visits and/or any other types of offered learning activities. You distribute information leaflets, responds to inquiries by visitors.

You must offer on a daily basis, a high level of customer service determined by the direction, your historical knowledge and develop they aptitude and competencies. You ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed, and responds to fire alarms and other emergencies.

You stock shelves of gift shop, operates electronic cash register or optical reader, calculates exchange rate, receives payment by cash, cheques, credit cards or automatic debits, wrap or place merchandise in bags, produces the daily sales report and reconcile with total sales.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

High school diploma AND experience in animation or as a guide

Experience

In heritage interpretation or animation

In preparing and conducting written and oral presentations

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

French Essential

OTHER INFORMATION

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.

PSP: Keep our Canadian Armed Forces operationally ready and their families and military community healthy as part of the team at Personnel Support Programs. Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment.

The Air Defence Museum : Located off the base but right next door to it, the Air Defence Museum offers exhibits on the history of civil and military aviation as well as themed exhibits on various related topics. In addition, a theme park gives visitors a chance to see mutiple aircraft that have been used at Bagotville as well as a very rare MIG-23 from the Cold War era.
