THE ROLEThe Strength & Conditioning Coach - CANSOFCOM, under the direction of a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, will work as a part of an interdisciplinary support team composed of Strength & Conditioning, Performance Dietetics, Mental Performance, Physiotherapy, and medical professionals.
The Strength & Conditioning Coach - CANSOFCOM daily tasks will include providing evidenced-informed strength and conditioning programming and coaching sessions for CANSOFCOM members who are seeking optimal physical performance to increase occupational readiness based on established employment standards, and refers clients as required.
The Strength & Conditioning Coach - CANSOFCOM will lead and assist in delivering strength and conditioning programs focused on optimizing physical performance and returning to duty from physical injury.
The Strength & Conditioning Coach - CANSOFCOM, as a subject matter expert in their field, will support the local team in providing training, education, advanced physical testing and monitoring to enhance high performance products, services, and project development for assigned personnel.
The Strength & Conditioning Coach - CANSOFCOM will leverage advanced tools, technology, and professional development opportunities to deliver contemporary, operationally relevant training solutions in support of supporting high-readiness members at home and abroad.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor's degree in Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or a related discipline AND some years of experience in physical fitness evaluation and prescription, adapted physical fitness and return to work, or a related field
AND
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification
AND
Current Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP)
Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
Unit specific physical fitness standards, as required
Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification, as required
Experience
In designing individual and group strength and conditioning programs for elite level personnel
In providing fitness program delivery to clients with physical injuries
In physical fitness evaluation
In adapting strength and conditioning programs for individuals
In assisting advanced exercise testing sessions
In designing and conducting physical fitness education workshops
In assisting the coordination and delivery of reconditioning, physical fitness programming, motor skill development, and evaluation protocols
In researching, preparing, and delivering reports
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
