THE ROLEUnder the direction of the Director IM/IT Business Services, the Senior Advisor, Solutions Architecture:
Owns end-to-end solution architecture across the full lifecycle (from concept and requirements through design, implementation, and evolution), ensuring technical integrity and consistency.
Leads architecture design activities including architecture definition, sizing/scaling, standards/practices, and creation of “as-is” architectures including supporting models, diagrams and specifications.
Advises management and stakeholders by assessing current systems for effectiveness and efficiency, identifying gaps vs. customer needs, recommending improvements.
Responsible for the development of strategic direction, including the development/enhancement of architectural viewpoints, models, roadmaps and designs to map out and evolve components that align within the CFMWS enterprise architecture. This requires the completion of comprehensive business transformation and architecture assessments as well as complex reviews in support of system/infrastructure needs.
Ensures delivery feasibility and value by validating solution proposals against requirements/architecture standards and performing cost-benefit and ROI analyses.
Coordinates and communicates across teams by acting as a liaison among project managers, technical teams, and business/IT leaders; leading design sessions; guiding implementation teams; and translating business needs into technical documentation.
Provides technical leadership and mentorship, supports incident resolution when required, and contributes to technology roadmaps and governance/standards activities (including vendor/consultant contract negotiations and compliance with IM/IT policies).
They define, develop, evaluate and contribute towards architecture policies, standards, guidelines, best practices and ensure compliance with CFMWS and industry standards.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, or in a related field, AND some years of experience in technical architecture, application architecture, solution architecture or in a related field And
Demonstrated understanding of industry standards, architecture frameworks and methodologies including TOGAF, Zachman, Federal Enterprise Architecture Frameworks
Certifications in TOGAF, IASA (IT Architect) or Azure Cloud, an asset
Experience
Five (5) + years of experience in Solution Architecture with demonstrated expertise in one or more architecture domains such as business, information/data, application/integration, technology/cloud, security. Experience with:
End-to-end solution design and architecture
Systems architecture and technical architecture and design
Multi-technology environments
Software integration and relational databases
Software development
Contract management
Budget administration
Leading multi-discipline teams
Providing advice on strategic issues
Project management
Creating and facilitating presentations
Using formal architecture frameworks and modeling tools

OTHER INFORMATIONThis is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
You may be eligible to receive a Scarce Skills Premium for this position as outlined in the attached IT Scarce Skills Compensation Agreement.
The selection process will be done virtually.
This position is a two-year term.
